Daily 5 Posters
This summer I have been doing some research on The Daily 5 and I am in LOVE! I am so excited about using this program with my students and I know that they will thrive due to the wealth of language arts exposure! I have created posters for each station (including a computer station) to indicate where the students will work during Daily 5 sessions. First Grade Word Wall
I hope everyone had a relaxing and enjoyable 4th of July and that you are staying cool in this incredibly hot weather we are having! I just posted the 1st grade version of the Fry Word Wall on TPT! Writing Workshop Conference Sheets
Writing Workshop is one of my favorite subjects to teach and this year we are going to have larger periods for writing! I'm excited to use the framework in its entirety, but I need a few things in order to do this! Conferencing this past year was a part of the workshop that my students and I looked forward to the most. Kindergarten Word Wall
I have been taking time to create this weekend, along with celebrating graduations and working on school work! On my agenda, I have planned to create word walls for each primary grade level. I started with the 2nd Grade edition and I have just completed the Kindergarten Word Wall! This version includes alphabet cards, word wall Fry words, and word wall title cards in each color (pink, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple). 2nd Grade Bright Word Wall!
We will be implementing the use of Fry Words next year and I have been doing some creating! I have come up with a bright word wall that includes the 3rd 100 Fry Words in word wall format. Ooo La La... Luna! Another Giveaway?!
I know I am not the first blogger to write about Learning Resources' Luna Interactive Projection Camera, but I am enthusiastic nonetheless! A nice solid dose of real life slowed down my review process last spring, but it didn't slow down my exploration process. This little gadget is a teacher's dream. Let me explain.
Life before Luna looked something like this:
I fell in love with Elmos during my undergrad experience, and I continued to daydream about them often once I started teaching. I even wrote a Donor's Choose grant for an Elmo... and it flopped. I had written a handful of grants for books, and they had been fully funded. However, "Project Elmo" never really made it off of the ground. I was absolutely crushed, because they are a little out of my price range. (Of course we all know how much money we spend on our classrooms as teachers, and I admit that I occasionally get carried away with decorating, books, and other classroom goodies, so if I'm saying that it's out of my price range, then you know it's serious!) Still, I couldn't stop thinking about all of the ways I could use a document projector in my classroom.
Fast-forward a year:
Luna popped up on the radar. I knew that I just had to have it. First of all, the Luna is reasonably priced at $199.99. (It's not nearly as expensive as the Elmo... and that leaves a lot more money in the bank... and in my closet! Ha!) It is compact, but mighty, and it plugs right in to your computer, so you can use it with your SMARTboard or existing projectors. It is absolutely wonderful for taking a closer look at a mentor text, modeling a math lesson, and pretty much any kind of demonstration you can think of. I honestly think the sky is the limit. I have not tried it yet, but you can actually create a video narration! How great would that be for pod-casting?! You could add a little podcast to your classroom website to help support your kiddos at home, and they could watch your lesson a second time. I love, love, love the versatility of this product!
